• Excellent interface!

  For the price, this thing rocks! No weird hisses or hums coming through, I love the combo jacks for mics or instruments. It has everything I think a beginning producer needs for the budget, and it's also really portable! Awesome product.

• Simple no frills solution

  This is a basic, well built USB powered ASIO interface. If you only need CD quality and a limited latency correction solution (low, medium and high) then this will work for you. If you need a lot of adjustability and high bit rates, look elsewhere.
  I like the standard mixer layout and find it does everything I need as a computer sound card solution for running VST instruments and loops off the laptop that I blend with digital keyboards and guitars plugged into it, all with a stereo output to the FOH. It's not fancy, but it works great for me as a multi-instrumentalist in a live setting where high bit rates are not required.

• Good one for a budget home studio

  one of my friend suggested when i was in a dilemma, its a very good interface for a home studio, i used guitar, keyboard and mic in it and the result is good. i loved it and this is my first interface and happy i got a 4 channel mixer though i've not tested 4 channels together. :)

  I do not know what these 2 guys before are talking about, but I bought this audiogram6 today and went to yamaha's website and downloaded the latest xp/vista driver and let me tell you absolute ZERO latency. This interface works with Reason, Kontact, Synthogy IVORY, Nuendo. NO LATENCY PROBLEMS.

• It's Okay

  It's a nice 4-in-2-out-16bit/44.1khz Audio interface with acceptable microphone preamp, compression, phantom power, and DI included Line in port at $100~200
  However, I HATE that hardware Monitoring DESIGN.
  It's really terrible, you can't turn off the monitoring.
  If you enable software monitoring, you will hear 2 sounds stick together like free chorus effect.
  'Why would I use software monitoring?'
  If you don't need reverb or others while recording then it's fine.

• A work in progress

  I got one of the first units shipped. Yamaha includes a slip of paper that 'strongly recommends' that you download their low latency audio driver. For me that was a shortcut to the 'Blue Screen of Death' in XP, as was any of the Cubase AI4 driver recommendations. Do any and all Windows updates, then install the software provided, register it, and then download the newest version of Cubebase and use whatever driver it picks when it installs and you should be OK. I ended up with some latency, but the recording quality is great, Cubase AI 4 has lots of goodies, and ultimately that's what counts.

  Tt's good for 16 bit but I in hindsight I should have spent a few more dollars an get a 24 bit. With 24 bit it is poosible to have real professional sounding reccorsings. The Audiogram 6 is borderline.

• Okay, but don't expect much.

  crummy mic pres + 16bit/44.1k + inability to give full 48V phantom power to condenser mics = fairly crummy recordings. Plain and simple. It's okay, it gets sound through to your computer, but that's about it. I understand that at this price point I shouldn't expect amazing results, and I haven't compared it a whole lot to other interfaces in the $100ish range. But now that I'm starting to make a real recording studio happen, it's time to graduate to something better.

• User friendly

  An OK interface for the money. Great while it worked, but my second channel totally burned out after a year. Doesn't take up too much desk space which is nice if you are working with a smaller space. I'm probably going to upgrade soon to the Mackie ProFX8 which has more mic pres and live sound usability.

• Its ok..nothing special...

  I got one of these on a whim thinking it would be a decent portable solution. The device itself isn't terrible, but latency can be a big issue. The software that comes with it is completely useless. You will definitely have to upgrade. Can't expect much from usb 1.1 anyways. It seems ridiculous that Yamaha wouldn't make a usb 2.0 device like everyone else. They are kind of behind the curb. If I had to make the choice over I would probably just save my money and buy something better.

• WARNING- HUGE issue with direct monitoring

  I've loved this thing for the first couple of weeks. . . BUT
  I just found out that there is NO WAY to turn off direct monitoring.
  What this means is, if you are using this in a recording application or DAW, like Ableton Live, any input you have is going to be heard at all times. You can not turn off the direct input monitoring!
  This is so blatantly ridiculous, I have no words. What a horrible, horrible design decision.
  BEWARE!!!
